We live two hours away from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Maybe two and some change. But still...four years down the road, and we're just barely making it to our local slice of one of the world's wonders? Funny how that works out sometimes. We wanted to go before our pass expired at the end of October. And it was beatiful, perfect weather. This little stinker would not smile or hold still for my signature mommy shot with Grand Canyon backdrop.Monday, October 19, 2009
Grand Canyon
Uh-oh. Steph showed me Picasa. Sorry kids.

We stayed in these dorm-room-sized cabins at Jacob Lake that the kids fell in love with. Unlike Zion, it was not a get-your-hands-dirty type of hiking weekend, but more of a park-and-look-park-and-look-park-and-eat type of a weekend. It's just so massive. I hear, however, that the South Rim is where to go for more of that kind of thing. And of course Havasupi is still on our list of things to do before we die. We threw in some random spice too: Bryson climbed a huge lookout tower with Ella, we dropped by Pipe Spring National Monument on our drive home. And now, since Bryson is headed up north today for a chunk of the week, here is a we'll miss you picture for him if he reads this...

What a wonderful family weekend! I feel the same way about the mountains. We live right here next to these giant mountains and yet my kids have never been camping. Sad. Glad you guys got out there. You have such a cute family!
Isn't Picasa the best?!
Cute edits. I love the Grand Canyon...at least what I can remember of it. I haven't been since I was little. That is nice that you live so close!
I just got to my hotel room and this is the first thing I looked at. Give Ella and Avery a hug for me. I love all three of my girls.
How cool. Glad you finally made it. We missed out, but to be fair, it was on our "things to do this fall" list. Too bad that moving wasn't on there or we would have planned better. :)
Your collages turned out great! Such talent!
It looks so pretty there! Jim and I are going to have to make a trip there. Our pass expires in August of 2010 but the time flies!
I think the pics of you and Ella are perfect! Fun girlies!
The pictures are gorgeous! It looks like you had a ton of fun. I wish we could have done more hiking when we were there too!
