Broken

:(

What a crazy day yesterday. Avery fell off the little retaining wall behind our house while playing and was hysterical for half an hour before Bryson got home from work. She kept holding her neck and would freak out every time you picked her up so I was really scared. We tried to go to Instacare but they said they didn't do neck problems, so they sent us straight to the ER. She held so still for all the doctors and nurses and X-ray techs, which let me know she was hurting. A healthy toddler is a wiggly toddler. I just held her.

It turned out she fractured her collar bone on the right side on this picture. No cast, just something that has to heal. Unfortunately, she is refusing to drink her pain medicine and despite our best efforts to whip up a few sippy cup cocktails, she's miserable. Poor baby.

Ug. Broken bones are the worst - especially when they are that little. So sorry!

So sad! It gets old for mom to have to care for a sad, in pain kid too. Hopefully it will heal quickly!

Oh darn it Katie! I know your pain as a mother...Kennedy did the same thing when she was 3 1/2 yrs old. Poor, poor Avery. I think I still have the sling that Kennedy used for her arm, if you want it. It helped her keep it in place.

Poor Avery! I hate it when the kids are hurt and you can't really do anything for them. Sorry guys!

I knew that retaining wall was bad news!!!! Poor little girl! I hope she learns that Drugs Are Good soon.

PS You need to at least see Lindsey's little sling. It is adorable and heartbreaking at the same time (mostly adorable since I saw it sans injured child).

Blah...why do those things have to happen to OUR kids? Can't it happen to some irresponsible parent who wasn't even paying attention to the fact that their child was playing near the thing? Oh, wait - I guess that's me sometimes too. :(

Oh no! Poor girl! I hope she is doing better. It is amazing how much faster little ones heal than us old people.

Your little nugget is adorable. Your pregnancy has flown by for me too!
