This is chapter four of my ongoing book, How to Vacation without Spending a Dime. Not true. How to Vacation without Spending Your Dime. That's more accurate.
While Bryson was attending his work-related lyophilization conference, the girls and I walked down to Old Town, played at Coronado Beach, and visited Balboa Park.
So Ella has been watching a lot of Sesame Street lately because I LOVE it. My favorite skits include Scram-a-Lot, Meal or no Meal, and A's Anatomy. It's great stuff.
It's teaching her Spanish too. Well, not actual words. Just that Spanish is another language and it sounds different than English. And she's pretty confident with her new skills. As we were walking to Old Town, she started up several conversations with cooks at the little authentic Mexican restaurants that line the streets in that area. Rolling out their homemade tortillas, they were greeted with singsong syllables of nonsense by a silly 3-year-old.
Hi, we are from out of town.

Is Princess Belle still in Old Town? How is Ella taking that? Love the picture of Ella by the fountain--so cute. Good old SD.
No...I didn't want to go into details, but she got the worse end of Ella getting car sick on the way home. We washed her hair in the shower and wiped her down extensively, but her hair will never have the volume that it did that day.
Looks like you guys have had fun times...except for Ella's car ride:) I loved all your pics from the holidays and from CA! Happy late birthday Bryson!
Didn't you just have a recent birthday also? I know I am a bad friend...Happy late birthday!!:)
your girls are soooo cute! poor Ella, i remember getting sick on those california roads too, but luckily i just slept.
I LOVE Averys grumpy old man look! What a sweet pic.
Oh I'm so jealous (except for the car sick part). Looks like most of your trip was fabulous.
