So here we go again. If you have any advice, here's your forum. This is attempt number I-can't-remember-anymore, but since we are out of diapers and between paychecks, we are motivated to get this one into the "I'm a big kid now" category soon.
I think we are on to something this time, though. With a chart full of boxes leading up to a princess Barbie, Ella seems to be on our team and excited to keep at it. In fact, after lunch today she showed us who No. 2 works for -- for the first time ever! She had to call daddy at work to tell him all about it. So, hopefully we will be joining the ranks of potty-users soon and out of diapers!

I have really no advice for you...because it sounds like you're already doing what I would suggest anyway. I'll just tell you--Kallie started potty training herself at 2 1/2 (to the day). Unfortunately, it didn't work out too well since we were in the middle of holiday crazy time. 2 months later, we started for real, and she did alright--but not as well as I'd hoped. I have to say that it wasn't until she hit her third birthday that she really caught on and it's been smooth sailing ever since. I hope Ella is the same way!
You go girl!
Good luck with the potty thing! Calvin is FAR from interested...
Ella is SO cute!
oh man two in diapers SUCH! I know that feeling. Good luck with potty training. It may be frustrating but she is freakin CUTE!!!!
Yeah Ella!!! Just keep at it Katie, and be consistent! I had a friend tell me that it's more of parent potty training than child potty training! Good luck & great job! Bribery works real well doesn't it (wink, wink!)
Good luck, you know I'm feeling you. Yahoo for Ella for going #2 in the potty! That's our biggest reason we're still in pullups. Weston just can't get his head around doing his business on the potty. Oh well, I'm trying to be patient since he's not even 3 yet. Hopefully Ella will be done with diapers forever in the near future! I'm thinking about you! :)
I love that picture of Ella on the potty! So cute. Good luck with the training...
Um, I have no suggestions. However, when you figure it out, could you come up here for an extended visit? Just stay long enough to train Matt & Em? That would be great! As for two in diapers, if it really starts to get you down, just remember, you only have half as many in diapers as I do! We miss you guys...
I am really disliking potty training! I would prefer to change a diaper than clean up messes out of pants, underwear, carpet, carseats, etc!:) Bribery seems to be working for us...I will let you know of any other breakthroughs. Good luck! I love the potty face!
Man, when you figure it out, let us know. We're stuck with Maia too...she seems to get scared trying to do the #2. Someday....*sigh*
Hey Katie,
I have a lot of advice based on my one potty trained child :). I am not sure of what your approach is, but bare bum time at home is great. It makes it hard to hang out at home for a few days, but it was worth it for us. Also, it was important for Sofia to wear underwear and have accidents in her underwear. She never minded having accidents in pull ups, but she wasn't so fond of poop in the pants. It was a pain in the butt for a few days when she had a poop accidents (could there be anything grosser). Just when we were about to give up for fear of giving her some weird poop issues, she got it! Hanging around potty trained cousins also really helped. Good luck!
We attempted many times - I don't know how many - it all blurred together and actually we are still in "night time" diapers since I was doing pee pee laundry every morning pretty much.
Good luck.
I love reading your witty posts.
My only wisdom on potty training is that it will only happen when the child is ready. Really. No way to hasten that. We tried every theory known to man twice over the course of a year and a half (longer? it all blends into one). Nothing worked. Then something clicked and bribery, which had never worked before, suddenly worked. You just keep giving her opportunities until it clicks for her. I hate potty training!
